Android everywhere! Call for Papers droidcon Berlin 2014

Android everywhere!

May 8. – 10. 2014, STATION Berlin

Call for Papers

Deadline: March 10, 2014

Submit your proposals here.

What is it all about? The droidcon conference has been influencing the Android ecosystem worldwide from the very early stages, that is since 2009.  In its sixth year and after spreading out to 13 (and counting) other countries droidcon Berlin is still the most important event of all and will draw the community to Berlin – to present and discuss projects at the droidcon barcamp, to hack along with other Android enthusiasts – or to give a talk at the droidcon conference. The motto of droidcon Berlin 2014: Android everywhere!

Presenters – who should speak at the droidcon conference?

  • developers (freelance and hired)

  • companies developing software (apps, tools, frameworks etc.)

  • research institutions with Android relevant activities

  • network operators and service providers

  • hardware manufacturers (phones, mini notebooks, tablets, automotive solutions, physical computing platforms, etc.)

  • companies, organisations (e. g. NGOs) and individuals using Android technology

  • companies utilizing Android in the services and products they sell

If you belong to one of those groups you are cordially invited to submit a talk proposal (or a number of proposals). An independent program committee assesses the proposals and selects the actual conference talks.

Please note: There is no guarantee that a submission will be put onto the conference agenda!

Themes and topics – what do we expect? In former years we provided possible topics as a framework into which talk submissions could be sorted. Now that we see that Android has arrived in more and more spaces – Android everywhere! - we decided that we can trust in the community’s own assessment which the important and relevant topics around Android are.

As a hint, let us just point you to our Android tag cloud. Please note: This is not a complete list of topics. If you feel you have something else to present or to discuss, don’t hesitate to make a proposal!

  • Android specific? - Does the talk deal with topics which are not only of general interest but with regard to Android in particular?

  • Expertise? – In case you submit a technical talk: Does it offer a higher level of expertise than general and widely published information for developers?

  • Innovation? – In case you present an app, framework, etc.: Is the presented technology innovative; i. e. does it provides features which are not yet available under Android?

  • Language: We highly recommend to submit abstracts and slides in English and prepare an English-language talk. Exceptions will be accepted after prior consultation. – Please note: A talk will be announced in the program table in the language of its presentation.
